Need a roof replacement and the weather won’t cooperate?
Nationwide Repair Service was a unique challenge for Schefers Roofing. This job was a perfect example of the influence of weather conditions on a roofing project. Due to winter weather conditions, we were influenced on the design chosen for this specific roof.
Meeting the Challenge:
Original plans were to place a fully adhered TPO roof system. However, due to the cold temperatures, plans were modified and a mechanically fastened roof system was chosen to allow the project to stay on schedule. Using this particular roof system does not utilize using glue to install. Weather conditions and temperature play a very important role in the application of glue.
With a mechanically fastened roof system, we are allowed to install in colder weather. In this industry, we have to make sure that we are flexible to change with the needs of the customer and Mother Nature.
Need your roofing contractor to take special measures to accommodate unique tenant needs?
Schefers installed the new roof for the Crittenton Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The goal was to reduce the building’s energy costs for its air-conditioning use, while reusing the existing insulation. Gypsum board was laid over the insulation and a mechanically attached TPO membrane roof was installed.
Crittenton Center was a special challenge to Schefers Roofing due to the nature of the tenants. This facility is a special needs hospital and our concerns were for the patients and our customer. To limit the noise level, we had to be flexible with our schedule and adjust our time to work at off-peak times.
Meeting the Challenge:
We worked on the weekends to limit traffic and our noise level. We utilized our roof vacuum to remove rock from the roof to minimize noise interruptions. Careful staging of equipment had to planned to limit traffic problems. We were able to complete this project on schedule and with special care.
Schefers Roofing Co. was awarded NRCA’s 2004 Excellence in Design Award for this project.
